Jackson and I copped a pair of 6mm airsoft pistols from Academy in Cool Springs today. These things fire 6mm plastic pellets with an effective range of about 20 feet. At 15 feet or less, if the projectiles hit exposed skin, they actually sting a bit. At 6 feet or less, you'll get a mark or maybe a raised welt.
The idea occurred to us that there might be some other folks in the area who might want to get together, and shoot at each other with these things. There is a team in Nasvhille called Bad Karma that has their own field, but I'm certainly not that serious yet.
You can google for airsoft pistols. They range in price from $10 to $150 dollars. We currently have spring-operated models, but you can also get electric and gas powered versions. Muzzle velocities range from ~100fps to 400fps. They hurt.

UPDATE: Amazon.com has quite a few products by Tokyo Marui, who apparently makes good equipment. I'm probably way to into this by wanting a $300 gun...
