Things I've Learned This Week


  • Champagne was discovered by accident. So was VX gas. We traded information on thermonuclear weapons for the latter.

  • Prototype can't modify the visibility of an element unless you specify the visibility in the tag's style attribute. Setting it in a stylesheet doesn't work at all and is very confusing. This means Scriptaculous also.

interesting. did you know that atropine is an extract from a plant? called nightshade or belladonna, the plant is actually still used in low doses in optometry for pupil dilation. interestingly, atropine is also an antidote for the infamous insecticide malathion. belladonna has been used recreationally as well, though it's highly toxic and using it recreationally is dangerous as fuck.
