Consumers, Music and Convergence

Am I the only person who thinks it's dumb for me to have a hard drive in my car, in my stereo, in my computer, in my console and in my DAP?

My computer already syncs with my DAP, as that's where I download my music. My stereo is hooked to a Roku Soundbridge and my car has an auxiliary 3.5mm input. What genius is cooking up the idea that we need to sync our music collection with 15 different devices? I'm smart enough to know that vendor lock-in is a money maker, but do people really buy this shit? I understand not surrendering to iTunes but damn.
