Obituary: Percy Miracles (With A Bonus QOTD)

I noticed today that Phonte from Little Brother posted on their MySpace blog that he was killing off his alter ego Percy Miracles. Cheatin' is one of my favorite songs on The Listening, as it goes well out of it's way to make fun of R&B. Apparently our boy Tay was disappointed that (to use his word) the banality of Cheatin' was not more well received. The QOTD comes from this choice line:

I guess I shoulda first realized this once I recorded 'Cheatin' for "Minstrel Show," and saw the positive reaction it garnered. When I made that song, I truly thought that I had made some of the most banal, ig'nant R&B shit ever known to man.....but lo and behold, a week or two after I finished the song, R. Kelly dropped "Trapped In The Closet" and I thought to myself, 'damn....Kells outniggered me.'

You tell 'em, Tay. You tell 'em.

Update:I neglected to point out that the straw that broke Phonte's parody-singing back was the Fried Chicken Song. He decided that if people were making songs like that there was no room for his parodies.

R.I.P. Percy Miracles. We will miss you and the guy that sounds like Ronald Isley... and the funniest lines in R&B. Let us remember...
