What I Learned This Week

Jaxn asked me where my What I Learned This Week posts have gone. They need to be resurrected.

  • Most Hydrogen, which is the star of renewable energy, is made from oil, natural gas, and coal. I had suspected this but a conversation today prodded me to confirm it.

  • A replacement fog lamp for a 2004.5 Volvo S40 is ~$100. My front left one has had the glass broken. I suspect foul play but can't fathom who or what would have done it.

  • Plastic can be made from corn.

  • iMacs allow a second display via a mini-dvi connector.

  • The Burj al-Arab is the tallest hotel building (meaning building used exclusively as a hotel) in the world and it's cheapest rooms are 1,189 ft2 and cost over $1,000 a night.

  • Trying to get 5.1 channel analog outputs on an imac or mac mini is an excercise in futility.

  • Bob Krumm is a racist.
