A Treatise On Terrorism
Thursday, July 13, 2006 at 4:56PM Say what you will about Israel's current campaign or about our involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. Tell me all about history and the horrible acts of all sides. Tell me about 'democracy' and 'freedom' and whathaveyou.
When you get done, I'll tell you this. We are making it worse. The 'crazy' people that you are 'fighting' vicariously through the brave men and women in our (and other) armed services are merely being bolstered by the actions of the establishments. If you read between the lines of all their mission statements (Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas, etc, etc) they basically all say one thing: Leave us alone and let us do what we want.
Isn't that what we claim to fight for?
When Israel drops a bomb on a bridge to hinder the movements of 'terrorists', it affects peoples lives. Children's parents are killed. These children hate you for their entire lives. They become jihadis. Can you blame them?
These people want us to get our oiled, 'blessed' and bloodied hands the hell out of their homes so they can pursue life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It's a shame that the world has yet to grasp that not every person's definition of those things is the same.
The 21st century crusades are overrated.
