ActiveState’s Komodo Sucks

ActiveState’s Komodo sucks. Let’s lay out why:

  • It’s a pain to ‘try’, requiring way too much time to register and install
  • It’s slow
  • The ‘code intelligence’ feature expects to be TOLD to rescan my WHOLE DAMNED machine for new perl modules if I install them and want it to see them. This takes like 5 minutes each time.
  • It’s glacially slow
  • You are expected to pay $295 for it.
  • The left-side filetree thingie can’t scroll through our code. It’s not a small project, but it’s not that large either.
  • Oh, it’s slow also.

I am runing this thing on 2.8Ghz of hyperthreaded silicon with a gig of RAM. C’mon guys…
