WoW, that’s expensive.
World of Warcraft (WoW) comes out on the 23rd of this month. I prepaid for my copy yesterday at the local GameStop. I ended up copping the Collector’s Edition because of Behind-the-Scenes DVD, signed manual, cloth map, and copy of the game on DVD. I very rarely buy games, so I figured that $87 (and an additional $14.95/mo after the first month) for a game that I fully intend to get addicted to wasn’t too bad. We’ll call it a Christmas present to myself. <fanboy> Besides, Blizzard has makes teh best gams evar!! </fanboy>
Blizzard is currently running an open beta test. I managed to get in just in time for my cable modem to fail. After living with it for a few days I had Comcast come out yesterday. The tech told my brother that we were “getting enough signal to power a whole block” or some such shit, and that someone would come today to do some work outside the house. He made a new coax patch cable to run from the wall to the modem for some unknown reason and attached a ‘pad’ to the back of the modem. He said that might help it work. The signal was apparently overwhelming the modem and causing it to reset. The pad didn’t help, AFAICT. It still went up and down all evening. So jdub and I went to see the Incredibles. It was good stuff. I’d like to digitally apologize to the proprietor of the Carmike theater in Murfreesboro, we have no idea how all that popcorn got out of the bag. So anyway, that bittorrent download (good lookin’ for using that software, bliz) of WoW should get to actually run unhindered tonight.
Half-Life 2 comes out on the 16th. It’s been sitting on my machine for a few weeks, thanks to Steam. I got it free from a video card I bought. If the open beta stays through next week, I may never even play Half-Life ;)
