I Want A Squeezebox
I have more mp3s than you, I’m quite sure of that. Don’t mind the fact that noone reads my weblog except for people that I know.
I hate burning CDs. I shouldn’t have to do that. If someone could give me a way to play mp3s in my car that didn’t cost an arm and a leg, and didn’t involve losing fidelity by using an FM hack, I’d give them money. Bonus monies if you could make it somehow sync up wirelessly, or work with an iPod. I don’t actually own an iPod, but I might if I could use it as more than another copy of my mp3s.
So, I could get by if I had a Squeezebox. I’m also not going to ask anyone to spend $27900. You could get one for less, but then it doesn’t have wireless. What good is that?
UPDATE: There is also Airport Express, which is $150 less. The price difference stems from the fact that (a) the Squeezebox software is open and extensible, whereas the Apple’s products are all tied to iTunes and (b) the Airport Express simply plays the stream and cannot control it. No changing songs or anything.
But, for a mere $59.95 more, you can get the Keyspan Express Remote. The total then hits $188.95. Flash your educational credentials and you can cop it for $178.95.
