Bring It On Back
I’ve totally been jamming to Soulive lately. I’m certainly not a jazz afficianado like some of my friends but I often find myself fused into the music in a way that involves my whole body. Feet stomping, ass shaking, and hands smacking. What I find most interesting about it is how it doesn’t require all of my brain. The music weaves it’s way through my brain and captures my rhythm centers, holding them hostage in a sort of sensory standoff.
There is nothing particularly interesting going on with me at the moment. I’m brewing a technical post concerning some work stuff, but it’s not moved into a state that I can post it yet. Just know it’s there.
I will whip out my politics stick and comment on something I heard on NPR today. I caught the end of a story that was explaining a recent organization of conservative christians in some state. A pastor associated with the movement had a soundbyte played from a rally. It said something like “We will not let up, back up, or shut up until we make a better world for everyone.” I have two problems with what this guy was saying:
- The WASP folks that always seem to be whining about how ‘bad’ things are make up some of the most privileged and free human beings on the planet, yet they always pose as the poor, well meaning victim. You are not opressed and you don’t know anything about what oppression is.
- You are not everyone. Attempting to make the country just the way you want it is called being an asshole.
That’s my serious post for the month. smile
