Monday Night Victuals

I don’t have anything outside of basic cable. ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, PBS and…. HBO. I’m not really sure why I get HBO but I’m not complaining. I generally abstain from watching network television because it makes me want to pitch my perty LCD display out the window. This leaves me very little to watch in the evenings after Seinfeld is over at 7 p.m.

Monday nights have been saved, however. HBO replays Friday night’s Bill Maher show. I have an insane amount of respect for Bill Maher based on his post-9/11 comments that got him fired and his political views (the ones I know of). His show is refreshing and serious, a nice addition to my existing love of Jon Stewart. His comedy background keeps things moving and his fairness allow him to mediate the sometimes chaotic dicussion.

Thanks HBO.

As an aside Senator Joe Biden, a candidate for the 2008 election, was a panelist tonight and I was very impressed with his frankness. It’s been a minute since I heard a presidential candidate say goddamn. This merely made me giggly after already being happy with his stances. I’ll need to read more on his record and ideas before I give my vote but he’s got an early lead.

UPDATE: Bill Maher threw out a comment that made me practically jump tonight. A panelist threw out the opinion that if we polled the citizens of the U.S. as to the greater danger: Global Warming or Terrorism they would choose the latter. Bill Maher quickly interjected: That doesn’t mean they are right.

If Biden had said that, I’d've started making campaign buttons.
